The Bacchante in the Boston Public Library
The Bacchante (by Frederick MacMonnies), a sculpture of mother holding
child in one hand and a bunch of grapes in the other (right),
was a favorite of Gibran. It stirred much controversy when
first displayed in the courtyard of the Boston Public Library in 1895.
